Pricing Guide for TCG Importer
Learn how pricing works when importing cards and sealed products into Shopify, including markups, live pricing, manual prices, safety nets, currency conversion, tax settings, and price rounding.
Pricing Overview
TCG Importer is designed to help Shopify stores import TCG products quickly while keeping pricing flexible. You can import using the current market price, apply a markup, use live pricing updates, set manual prices, or protect your margins with safety net pricing.
The goal is simple: give your store fast product creation without losing control over your pricing strategy.
- Cards can use market pricing, live pricing sync, manual prices, markups, and safety nets.
- Sealed products can use database pricing, markups, manual prices, and inventory settings.
- Store-wide pricing rules can be applied through your settings, such as price rounding.
Markup Rules
Markup rules let you increase the imported price by a percentage. This is useful when you want to automatically add margin on top of the base market price.
Live Pricing Sync
Live Pricing Sync allows imported cards to continue updating after they have been created in Shopify. This is useful for singles where market prices can move over time.
- Live pricing checks the latest available pricing data.
- Your selected markup can still be applied during pricing updates.
- Safety net pricing can protect your minimum sell price.
- Rounding rules can be applied after the final calculated price is worked out.
Manual Pricing
Manual pricing lets you override the calculated price and choose the exact price you want imported into Shopify.
This is useful when you are running promotions, matching a competitor, clearing stock, or setting your own pricing strategy instead of using live market pricing.
- Manual pricing is best for fixed-price imports.
- Manual prices should be used when live pricing is turned off.
- If live pricing is enabled, the product may be updated again during future syncs.
Safety Net Pricing
Safety net pricing protects you from selling below a minimum price when live pricing is enabled.
Currency Conversion
TCG Importer supports store currency conversion so products can be imported into the correct Shopify store currency.
Pricing data is converted into your selected store currency before markup, safety net, and rounding rules are applied.
- Set your preferred store currency inside TCG Importer settings.
- Prices are converted before final pricing rules are applied.
- This helps stores sell internationally while keeping pricing consistent.
Price Rounding
Price rounding helps make imported prices look cleaner and more professional in Shopify.
Depending on your settings, prices can be rounded to the nearest pricing rule and can use common endings such as .95 or .99.
Charge Tax
The Charge Tax option controls whether the imported Shopify product variant is marked as taxable.
This setting is optional during import. It is not selected by default, so stores can choose whether imported cards and products should charge tax based on their own tax setup.
- Enable Charge Tax if your store should charge tax on the imported item.
- Leave it off if your tax setup does not require taxable variants for these products.
- Shopify tax settings still control the final tax behaviour at checkout.
Best Practice Setup
For most stores, we recommend starting simple and adding pricing rules once your workflow is clear.
- Use live pricing for card singles where market prices change often.
- Use safety nets when you want to protect your minimum margin.
- Use manual pricing for promos, clearance items, and special campaigns.
- Use rounding rules to make your storefront pricing look clean and consistent.
- Review imported products before publishing large batches to your live sales channels.
